We had such a wonderful experience on the Walk of Peace hiking tour put on by Visit Goodplace. We had a limited amount of time in Slovenia and created an itinerary with a Good Place team to meet our time constraints. They took care of everything including transportation to and from the hiking locations and booking our accommodation. Even though we are in the USA (and 9 hours behind time zone), they took the time to meet with us via Zoom before departure to go over how to use their App with maps and itinerary (which is also excellent by the way). Everyone on their team that we interacted with was excellent. The transportation was timely and the accommodation locations were perfect. We can't wait to go back and complete the full tour and will definitely work with them again! Thank you all for a wonderful vacation!

Dear Heather. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed your customised Walk of Peace hiking experience with us. It was a pleasure helping you shape the itinerary around your available time in Slovenia and making sure the logistics, accommodation, transfers, and navigation were all in place for a smooth trip. We are especially glad to hear that the pre-trip Zoom briefing and our navigation app were helpful — we know that good preparation makes a big difference, especially when travelling from far away. We would be delighted to welcome you back to Slovenia and help you complete the full Walk of Peace tour next time! Janja & Visit Goodplace Team

We just participated in Slovenia Route 4 with 5 people. We had a great time and didn't have any significant problems. We did find that there were quite a few paved roads, in contrast to the single tracks. The passage through the Alps was fantastic. We have the feeling that the route hasn't been recently checked, as in a few places the route was blocked by wire, so we had to take a detour there. The hotels were actually too fancy for an MTB route, specifically the hotels in Ljubljana and Postojna. At one location, no dinner was provided, and we were only served sausages with raw onion and stale bread. The route through the mines, however, was a pleasant change of pace. The arrival in Piran was fantastic. The hotel there is a good way to end the trip. All in all, we had a nice holiday, though actually a bit too expensive for us; it could have been cheaper if the hotels had been simpler. We got to know Slovenia and will definitely come back to mountain bike.

Dear Nico. Thank you very much for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We are very happy to hear that you had a great holiday overall, enjoyed the passage through the Alps, the mine section, the arrival in Piran, and that Slovenia left you with the wish to come back for more mountain biking. Slovenia Route 4 is a demanding “trans” style MTB tour, connecting different mountain biking regions and natural MTB terrain all the way from Koroška in the north-east of Slovenia to Piran on the Adriatic coast. Because the tour crosses several very different regions, some connecting road sections are unavoidable. Wherever possible, the route is designed to stay as off-road as realistically possible, and the surface mix and daily route details are included in the tour materials and published in the daily descriptions. Regarding the blocked sections, we completely understand that this can be frustrating. We regularly check and update our routes, and this route was last fully checked at the end of last season, when all sections were open and rideable. However, with long-distance MTB routes, occasional temporary changes can happen during the season due to forestry work, storm damage, landslides, grazing livestock, electric pasture fences, or local access changes. We would be grateful if you could share any specific locations with us, so we can check them and update the route information where needed. All our tours in general include 3–4* accommodation, depending on the location, availability, services. In some smaller places, accommodation options are limited, while in larger towns we work with places that provide reliable service, with convenient location. We understand that for some MTB riders simpler accommodation may feel more appropriate, and we appreciate this comment as useful feedback. At this mountain location, dining options are very limited, and dinner at the accommodation is usually the only practical option. Since dinner was arranged directly between you and the accommodation, we unfortunately do not have influence over the specific meal agreed or served. We have not received negative feedback about this location before, so this may have been an unfortunate misunderstanding, but we will take your feedback into account for future guests. Thank you again for travelling with us and for your constructive feedback. We are glad that, despite a few points mentioned, you had a nice holiday, discovered Slovenia, and plan to return for more mountain biking. We would be happy to welcome you again.
