About this trip
Welcome to KRANJ: Alpine Air. City Flair., a unique walking study tour for conference participants, through the host city of the 2026 Green Destinations Conference. As a Slovenia Green Platinum destination with the highest scores, Kranj perfectly embodies the harmony between a vibrant urban center of the Gorenjska region and the pristine nature of the Slovenian Alps.
Our exploration starts in the city center, first with a warm welcome by the municipality and their DMO. Then we climb the bell tower of St. Cantius Church for a bird's-eye view of all three chains of the Slovenian Alps. But you'll have to earn this magnificent view by climbing 163 steps :) We then descend into the city’s mysterious underworld to explore the secret tunnels under the old town. Within this unique setting, we visit the SOS Proteus Info Centre, recognized as a Green Destinations Top 100 Sustainability Story for its innovative conservation of the olm.
After a good local lunch, the afternoon is dedicated to first to a must-see Cabinet of Janez Puhar, the 19th-century inventor of photography on glass and the world’s first "selfie." Here, you will have your portrait made on glass, a unique memento of your visit. Then you will have a special Gorenjska museum tour across three historical locations, each revealing a different layer of the town’s identity. The tour ends with free time to soak up the Alpine flair of this vibrant town.

Tour Start & End
The meeting point for this tour is Kranj Center, at approximately 9:00 AM. The programme is expected to finish in Kranj at around 3-4:00 PM.
Group size and minimum number of participants
The number of participants on this tour is limited. A minimum of 15 participants is required for the tour to operate, while the maximum group size is 20 participants.
We reserve the right to cancel the programme if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In this case, clients will first be offered the option to join an alternative tour, subject to availability. If no suitable alternative can be provided, a full refund will be issued.
