The LJUBLJANA: A different city walk & creative waste workshop" study tour invites you to explore the heart of a city that was named European Green Capital 2016. We begin our journey with a train ride from Kranj to this Slovenia Green Platinum destination, setting the tone for a day dedicated to responsible urban living.

The morning is spent on an insightful guided walking tour of Sustainable Ljubljana, where we discover the city’s most inspiring green solutions, from its vast car-free zones to innovative public spaces. A highlight of the program is the creative waste workshop with Smetumet. Here, you will dive into the lifecycle of waste and craft your own stylish, functional upcycled product, learning how creativity can drive the circular economy. After a lunch in the city center, we take the funicular to the iconic Ljubljana Castle, another Slovenia Green awarded attraction.

At the castle, history comes to life through the ‘Time machine’ guided experience, where costumed characters lead you through the centuries. The day concludes with free time to enjoy the city’s vibrant atmosphere at your own pace. This tour is perfect for those who want to see how a capital city can successfully balance rich cultural heritage with modern environmental leadership and active community involvement.

Tour Start & End

The meeting point for this tour is Kranj Railway Station, at approximately 7:45 AM. The programme is expected to finish with a return to Kranj at around 5:00 PM.

Group size and minimum number of participants

The number of participants on this tour is limited. A minimum of 15 participants is required for the tour to operate, while the maximum group size is 20 participants.

We reserve the right to cancel the programme if the minimum number of participants is not reached. In this case, clients will first be offered the option to join an alternative tour, subject to availability. If no suitable alternative can be provided, a full refund will be issued.
